Diagnostics of Branch Types of Organizational Culture
The article presents the author’s method of diagnostics of branch types of organizational culture, developed on the basis of the branch model of organizational culture by T. Deal and A. Kennedy. The authors of the model identified four branch types of organizational culture – trading, speculative, investment, and administrative. The criteria for distinguishing between them were the speed of feedback and the degree of risk. The diagnostic technique developed on the basis of this model is an inventory and is used in the self-assessment mode by employees of the organization or candidates for vacant positions. The structure of the inventory has five thematic blocks, each of which includes four statements related to four branch types of organizational culture. A respondent‘s choice of three to five statements relating to one type of culture is a sign of compatibility with that type of culture. The diagnostic technique allows to assess the degree of compliance of an employee or candidate for a position with the branch features of the organizational culture of the enterprise and, when summing up a large amount of data obtained as a result of the inventory, to establish the branch type of organizational culture of the enterprise. The article shows the structure of the inventory and provides examples of its use as an independent diagnostic tool, and in combination with the order diagnostic methods.
