The article briefly review the literature on burnout and work engagement (as opposite phenomeno)n. The advances and psychometric limitations of bipolar approach and independent approach to burnout and work engagement are analyzed. The purpose of this paper is to develop evidence for the validity and reliability of an Russian-language translation of the Oldenburg Burnout Inventory (Demerouti E. et. al., 1998, 2005, 2007, 2010, version in Russian language A. Smirnova, 2015). The short version of the Oldenburg Burnout Inventory developed for Russian-speaking sample of A. Smirnova is given.
